Sean Yun
AI-powered Manufacturing System Architect
I’ve spent years at the intersection of manufacturing systems and software — designing MES platforms, integrating production lines, and watching the industry struggle to bridge the gap between the factory floor and modern AI.
Today I’m building that bridge myself. I design AI-Native manufacturing systems where LLM agents don’t just automate tasks — they understand processes, reason about constraints, and continuously improve from operational data.
This site is where I document the journey: the ideas, the systems, the failures, and what I’m learning. Everything here will eventually become a book.
Career
AI-Native Manufacturing Architect
Independent
Designing AI-Native manufacturing system architecture — where LLM agents don't just automate tasks but understand processes, reason about constraints, and continuously improve from operational data. Building tools, writing, and publishing research at carvenext.com.
Manager, Production Automation
Absolics Inc. — Georgia, USA
Joined a greenfield semiconductor substrate facility to build factory automation from the ground up. Led development of MES, logistics automation (MCS), real-time dispatching (RTD), and quality systems (SPC/FDC). Designed system integrations, data genealogy models, and traceability architecture. Built and managed a 40+ member cross-functional engineering team through ramp-up to high-volume production.
Technical Leader, Data Transformation
SK Hynix — South Korea
Led development of an event-based MES platform for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Reorganized legacy process flows into standardized workflows, redesigned architecture to cut release time significantly, and implemented monitoring logic to improve system reliability.
Deputy General Manager, Intelligent Factory
Samsung SDS — South Korea
Directed automation architecture for Panel Level Packaging (PLP) and advanced semiconductor substrate facilities at Samsung Display and Samsung Electro-Mechanics. Designed full manufacturing system architecture for greenfield factories — MES, logistics automation, recipe management, and equipment communication — from architecture through production ramp-up.
Assistant Manager, System Technology
Samsung Electronics — South Korea
Led modernization of operator interface platforms across 300mm semiconductor wafer fabrication lines — transitioning from client-based to web-based manufacturing applications. Contributed to next-generation MES platform development using the FACTORYworks™ framework.

Philosophy
AI-Native, not AI-added. Most “AI in manufacturing” projects bolt machine learning onto existing systems. I believe the transformative shift happens when you redesign systems from scratch with AI as a first-class citizen — not a feature added later.
Context is everything. A PLC follows instructions. An AI agent understands why those instructions exist. That distinction matters enormously when something unexpected happens on the production line at 2am.
Build in public, learn in public. The manufacturing industry is slow to share knowledge. I want to change that by documenting everything — including the mistakes.
